Big boobs? Check (pic 2). Nice, tight ass? Check (pic 3). As the inaugural figure review at NaughtyAnimeFigures.com, this review will highlight the different approach we'll take towards figures here at xNAF. As an adults only site, we'll talk casually about chest size and other finer aspects of the feminine figures. So if you're into this sort of thing, just sit back and enjoy a whole different perspective of Japanese anime figures. I have no clue at all as to what the anime show, Zoids: Genesis, is about. And I'm probably not the only one who is clueless here. But Zoids: Genesis Kotona Elegance 1/7 scale PVC Figure from Max Factory is the sort of figure that grabs the attentions of adult anime figure collectors. Sculpted by Chieri, this release features Kotona in an ultra skin tight pearl white bikini, with a huge, round float tube behind her back (pic 4). This figure is very pleasing on the eyes, and with Kotona's posture you can't help but stare at her chest (pic 5). The sculptor adds a naughty element to this figure, with the shape of her nipples showing through (pic 6). The overall design of the figure is excellent and well thought out. Chieri adds a small flower to Kotona's hair (pic 7), and the see-through blue float tube is another nice element (pic 3) The design of the bikini itself is interestng in that the base color is pearl white, but the bikini is embellished with pink lines (pic 8). The leggings are certainly unusual, and Kotona's wearing heels to boot (pic 9). And the posture is equally unusual in that the float tube is digging into Kotona's back, and this in turn causes her upper body to stick out. With the way the legs are tilted (pic 10), especially the left leg, the natural assumption is that this figure is unstable. And this assumption is surprisingly wrong because Chieri added, in addition to pegs, support for Kotona's heels on the stand (pic 11). Although we're heaping tons of praises at the sculptor for his well designed work in this review, we have to remain objective and bring to your attention a number of flaws in our sample. The flaws relate to the execution, the production stage. The most notably flaw is the string attached to the float tube---it's simply too LONG (pic 12). It's certainly nice of Chieri to include a string, and make it long enough to intertwine with the fingers in Kotona's left hand. But the string is about 1 1/2 inches too long, and the string just snakes around the tube and fall out of Kotona's fingers. The second big flaw in our sample is the coloring of the bikini. The bikini top is pearl white. The bikini bottom is pearl white. But the leggings, which are still part of the bikini, are inexplicably light yellow, and glossy at that. The color of the leggings, which are pearl white in the stock photo, are akin to that of a banana once you peel off the skin. The gloss makes the difference in color much more noticeable because the white color in the other pieces are flat white. Some collectors won't care about this incongruity in coloring. But there are many collectors who would care, and for this reason we feel it's necessary to point out this incongruity in the coloring of the bikini. Finally, there are some mold lines, especially at both hips (pic 13), along the left arm (pic 14) and on the back of the right leg (pic 15). But these lines are all on the side, and not noticeable if the figure is placed on a shelf. Kotona stands at 9 inches tall (including stand). The SRP of 58 bucks is reasonably priced for a figure of this size and quality. Zoids: Genesis Kotona Elegance 1/7 scale PVC Figure from Max Factory is a beautifully designed release. It is rather unfortunate that the production issues prevent us from recommending this release as a must buy figure, especially a figure created by the noted sculptor Chieri. Nonetheless, anime figure collectors who prefer buxom figures should definitely check this out. |
